Are teachers “allowed” to teach evolution in their classrooms? How about creationism or intelligent design? The National Science Teachers Association states, “Evolution should be emphasized in K–12 science education. If evolution is not taught, students will not achieve the level of scientific literacy needed to be well-informed citizens.” The Teacher Institute for Evolutionary science (TIES) is a very successful network of classroom teachers helping middle school science teachers promote evolution education with high-quality evolution resources. Our mission focuses on the idea that good teachers can teach anything if they have the content and resources to do so.
