Nine states and the District of Columbia have now enacted adult-use cannabis policy, and more than thirty states have some form medical marijuana legislation. It seems as though we are on the tipping point of total cannabis freedom, so what could be the importance of advocacy now that legalization is nearly inevitable? In this presentation, cannabis activist Chris Thompson will explain the driving forces behind legalization, the hopeful future of marijuana policy, and how prohibitionists like Jeff Sessions demonstrate a clear need for continued advocacy.

Chris Thompson

Chris Thompson is the Co-Founder and Communication Director of Las Vegas NORML, and the Director of Digital Marketing for Freedom Leaf Inc. Chris is a graduate of Purdue University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering. Chris became involved in cannabis activism by starting the Purdue NORML chapter in 2013, and went on to start three other college NORML chapters in the Midwest and work in the National NORML Denver offices in 2015. After accepting a position with Freedom Leaf Inc. in Las Vegas, Chris helped start the Las Vegas NORML chapter in 2017 and currently serves as the Communication Director. Chris is extremely passionate about cannabis advocacy, marijuana education, and community outreach.
