McNeill and Croft will discuss the threats posed by the religious right and how humanists can respond with more effective messaging, strategies, and local organizing to achieve political goals. The Center for Humanist Activism, the Freethought Equality Fund, and the Secular Community Project are three efforts aimed at translating our growing humanist demographic into increased social and political influence.
McNeill is the political coordinator at the Center for Humanist Activism. He previously served as a field organizer, regional field director, and campaign manager on a number of political campaigns. McNeill graduated magna cum laude from Fayetteville State University and completed a fellowship with the Institute of Political Leadership at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
James CroftCroft is a humanist activist, organizer, and public speaker. Since graduating from the universities of Cambridge and Harvard, he has been studying for his doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is also an Ethical Culture leader in training and co-author with Greg Epstein of the forthcoming book, The Godless Congregation, to be published by Simon & Schuster.
