Biography: Ms. Heimlich is the author of Breaking Their Will: Shedding Light on Religious Child Maltreatment, the first book to take an in-depth look at religiously motivated child abuse and neglect in the United States. As a freelance reporter for National Public Radio, Ms. Heimlich won nine journalism awards. She also writes non-fiction, investigative articles. In addition to her writing, Ms. Heimlich heads the Child-Friendly Faith Project, a nonprofit organization that educates the public about the impact that belief and faith practices have on children in America.
