Bob Scott is the Mayor of Franklin, NC.
A native of Greenville, SC, he has held careers in journalism (Greenville News-Piedmont, Columbia State-Record, Asheville Citizen-Times), the military and law enforcement.
Scott is a graduate of Western Carolina University, receiving a BS in Criminal Justice; a graduate of the FBI National Academy; a graduate of Palmetto Military Academy (SC National Guard OCS); a Director of the NC League of Municipalities; Advanced Leadership Corps of UNC School of Government; Advanced Training Certificate of the NC Sheriff’s Standards Commission; and Public Information Officer in the US Army Reserve.
He served 11 years as a Town of Franklin, NC, Alderman, and is currently in his second term as Mayor.
Scott is a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International. He serves as Board of Direct for REACH (Domestic Violence Shelter) and served briefly on the NC Board of the ACLU.
He is a member of the ACLU, American Humanist Association, Rotary International, Academy of Model Aeronautics, Sierra Club, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and Nantahala Hiking Club, Bartram Trail Society.
